About Us
We survived the 1994 Northridge Quake.
At the epicenter, we had a week without water, power, cable, or phone service to think about what we did to prepare that worked, and what we should have done to make things better.
We created this site because the “official advice” to prepare yourself and your family for 3 days without services is absolutely absurd. In the 1994 quake, we had a ‘best case scenario’ with the quake hitting in the early morning hours on a holiday, no major airport damage, and a small but focus damage area so that nearby rescue services were quickly available.
As we know from Hurricane Katrina, we can’t expect help at least 30 days at a minimum.
This site will show you how to prepare without spending a whole lot of money, based on our real life experiences in a real life emergency.
